Why not switch your primary vehicle to an electric vehicle (EV) today? In Massachusetts, transportation accounts for 43% of greenhouse gas emissions. Electric vehicles provide many benefits to individuals as well as communities, including reducing emissions, diversifying fuel sources, and promoting new technologies. The Town of Natick is committed to evaluating opportunities to replace town vehicles with clean energy and fuel efficient options. In addition, Natick is working to install electric vehicle charging stations to serve the growing number of plug-in and battery electric vehicles in town.

According to the Department of Energy, EVs can save as much as $1,200 per year in fuel costs. They also do not need oil changes and have no transmission fluids, fuel pumps, timing belts, or other components of a gasoline engine that need to be maintained. There are a lot of good choices on the market these days, from all-electric vehicles to hybrids with plug-in options. The idea of driving an electric vehicle that you plug into the wall rather than fill up with gas sounds pretty good, doesn’t it?
